Heat Pump Repair & Installation
Heat Pump Repair and Installation in Northeast Florida
A heat pump heats and cools most North Florida homes year round from one outdoor unit. That single system has to handle Florida humidity, salt air, mild winters, and the cold snaps that arrive with little warning. Comfort Zone of North Florida is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, so help is here when your home is not comfortable.

Signs Your Heat Pump Needs Repair
Call us when you notice one of these changes. Catching an issue early can protect the rest of the system and keep a small repair from turning into a larger one.
If you are not sure what you are hearing or seeing, call (904) 406-0070 and describe it. We will help you decide whether a visit is needed right away.
How Heat Pump Repair Works
Our diagnostic is $99. A technician comes to your home, checks the system, and gives you full written findings with photos. You get the repair price in writing before work starts, so there are no surprises at the end of the visit.
We also offer a free second opinion. If another company has quoted a large repair or a full replacement, let us look at the system and the quote before you decide.
Our technicians are EPA certified, factory trained, and NATE certified. They are paid hourly, with no sales quotas and no commission, so the advice you get is based on what your system needs.
What happens on a repair visit
First, we inspect the outdoor unit, the indoor unit, and the controls. Next, we test the parts that affect heating, cooling, and airflow. Then we show you the findings with photos and the repair price in writing. Work starts only after you approve it.

Heat Pump Replacement and Installation
When replacement is the right move, we install Carrier heat pump systems sized for your home, not just for the old unit. Proper sizing matters in North Florida, because a system that is too large or too small will struggle with humidity and comfort.
Before installation, we evaluate the existing line set and ductwork. If the line set or ductwork needs attention, we explain that in writing before the job starts, so you know what is included and why.
On installation day, our team protects your floors, removes the old equipment, sets the new outdoor and indoor units, checks the line set and ductwork connections, and tests heating and cooling before we leave. We walk you through the new controls and answer your questions on the spot.
For honest repair or replace guidance, we put the age of your system beside the repair price, in writing. When a system is old and a repair is large, replacement can be the smarter investment. When a repair makes sense, we say that too, and we show the math either way.

How a Heat Pump Works in Florida
A heat pump does not make heat the way a furnace does. It moves heat. In cooling mode, it moves heat out of your home. In heating mode, a reversing valve changes the direction of flow, so the system moves heat from outside air into your home.
On a cold, damp morning, frost can form on the outdoor coil. The defrost cycle briefly reverses the system to melt that frost, then returns to heating. That short cycle is normal. Ice that stays on the unit outside a defrost cycle is not normal, and it is worth a visit.
On the coldest mornings, auxiliary heat strips add extra warmth while the heat pump keeps working. If those strips run all the time, the system is working too hard, and a technician should check it.
Heat pumps fit this climate well, because our winters are mild and our cooling season is long. One system handles both jobs. SEER2 describes cooling efficiency, and HSPF2 describes heating efficiency. In plain terms, higher ratings mean the system can deliver the same comfort while using less energy, though ratings are only part of the picture. Sizing, ductwork, and installation quality matter just as much.
Heat Pump Care
Regular care keeps a heat pump running well in salt air and humidity. Keep the outdoor unit clear of leaves, mulch, and yard debris, change filters on schedule, and keep vents open and unblocked inside the home.
A yearly visit lets a technician clean the coils, check refrigerant, test controls, and catch wear before it becomes a breakdown. For plan details, see our maintenance page.

Heat Pump Questions
With regular care, many heat pumps in Northeast Florida last 12 to 15 years. Salt air, humidity, and long cooling seasons put extra wear on outdoor parts, so yearly care helps protect the life of the system.
Yes. A heat pump moves heat from outside air into your home, even on a cool North Florida night. On the coldest mornings, auxiliary heat strips add extra warmth while the heat pump keeps working.

At least once a year. A yearly visit lets a technician clean, check, and test the system before the long cooling season, and it gives you a clear record of how the system is holding up.
Yes. We service all makes and models, and we are a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer. If your system is a Carrier, a different major brand, or an older unit, our technicians can diagnose it and explain your options in writing.
